Here we occasionally talk music, movies, politics, religion, society, culture. Things can get a bit dodgy (especially when The Pikey chimes in).

Another Road Trip
St. Louis beckons again; this time for the U.S. premiere of John Adams' symphony based on his opera Doctor Atomic.
Apparently you have to hunt for 3 1/2 hours. I just find it ironic that someone who works at the box office at the KC Symphony is always leaving town for a concert.
It's no more ironic that I leave town to go to a concert than many of our musicians taking occasional side gigs in other cities.
I've been all over the place for concerts.
I've seen Penderecki conduct; John Williams with the CSO; Wagner's Ring complete.
None of these I could've done here. It's not necessarily about quality of local performance but, rather, a matter of local funding in that we simply don't have the resources. Yet.

It's amazing that sometimes I have to drive 3 1/2 hours to hear good music.
Then there are other times where I'm glad that I only have to drive 3 1/2 hours to hear good music.
If you love St. Louis so much, why don't you marry it?
So why doesn't KC ever get "good" music?
Because...well I should just leave that one alone.
We do get good music. One just has to hunt for it a little bit.

You go where the music is.

If you knew there was a chance that you could meet one of your heroes wouldn't you take it?
That's why I go to Buffalo Wild Wings with you.
I can't help that I'm awesome; but this isn't about me...this time.
